The midterms in November are pivotal to both federal and state-level elections, with the outcomes having direct effects on the lives of Montanans.

This cycle, we have seen unprecedented attacks by the Trump administration to limit or interfere with people’s right to vote. From attacks on mail-in ballots, threatening election officials, deploying monitors to select locations, and attempts to impose restrictions at the ballot box, Trump and his allies are working to make it harder for people to cast their votes.

We, at Forward Montana, are working to make sure that voters have all the information they need to cast their votes safely and securely.

Will you join our election protection team?

We are asking for people to volunteer in three key areas:

  • Poll Observers – volunteers inside voting locations in Billings, Bozeman, Butte, Flathead, Great Falls, Helena, Missoula and reservation areas to help, document, report, escalate and resolve any issues voters may encounter.
  • Line Support – volunteers outside voting locations in Billings, Bozeman, Butte, Flathead, Great Falls, Helena, Missoula, and reservation areas to help reduce voter confusion, provide food and water, and keep voters in line to cast their ballots.
  • Voter Protection Hotline Operators –  volunteers available to help resolve voter issues, arrange rides to polls, and any other issues that may arise. This can be done from anywhere in the state.

Sign up here!

Training for volunteers will be held in September and October over Zoom. If you have any questions about volunteering, please feel free to contact Quinn Leighton at qleighton@mtvoices.org.

Every Montanan should be able to cast their vote and know that their vote will be counted. With your help, we can ensure that our friends and neighbors are able to do so.
