What is your experience with Forward Montana, or our sister organization Forward Montana Foundation, and why is our work important to you?

My experience with Forward Montana was an amazing experience. Not only was I apart of something important but I made a lot of memories doing so. I still volunteer. I try to be as active with Forward Montana as I can be. Helping people vote is very important.

Why are you interested in joining the Forward Montana Board?

Helping people to vote is what determines where things go not only in the country but in each and every individual state, county and town. If Forward Montana doesn’t have everyone’s correct address then how can we determine if the votes are fair. I would love to become part of something bigger.

What skills, characteristics, experience, or insight do you have that would be a valuable addition to the board?

I am very comfortable talking with people and striking up any conversation. I have worked with many non-profits. I love to have fun while working however I can be serious if need be and get the job done. Personally I like to do it in an orderly fashion. If anyone needs someone to talk to I always listen. Being a board member is a very important position. I would love to be apart of such an important non-profit. I have planned and executed many successful events.

What experience do you have fundraising, and what is your comfort level with asking for money?

I have done a lot of fundraising before. At Bitterroot Humane Society I did parade floats and fundraising for abused animals. I also did fundraising for Forward Montana. I will never ask someone for money unless it is for a good cause such as Forward Montana and the Humane Society. I have no problem raising money as long as it’s for an important cause.

Being a board member requires a time commitment to meetings, phone calls, occasional events, etc. Will you be able to fulfill these time commitments? Does anything give you pause?

Being a good board member takes experience. I have worked with Forward Montana for awhile. I love taking part in the phone banks and I love talking with people to understand their ideas and why they want to implement them. It is always best to listen to the staff on quite a few things. Their ideas are what could make an event successful. Taking part in a community is something I love doing. Going out into the community and getting people’s opinions is what also help the organization. I will be a great board member because I will try and do any ideas the community and staff have. It is always best to listen to the community. I will do everything it takes to make sure all the ideas are implemented.

Good board members invest their time into Forward Montana, are ambassadors for the organization, are familiar with the work of the organization, and are responsive to other board members and staff. How will you go above and beyond being a good board member? How will you be a great board member?

I am great with time management so I will almost always be in time. I work in an environment where mediation is needed so that is not a problem. I am a great artistic side and I contribute a lot to my every day life by being balanced and helping others.

Is there anything else you’d like to add?

As a board member I would make sure everyone’s voice is heard whether it be staff or volunteers. The people in the community are what counts.
